Hexarelin
What is Hexarelin?
Hexarelin is a synthetic growth hormone secretagogue (GHS) and a potent ghrelin receptor agonist. It belongs to the class of peptidomimetics known as GHRPs (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptides) and is closely related to GHRP-6 and GHRP-2. Hexarelin stimulates the pituitary gland to increase the natural secretion of growth hormone (GH), leading to numerous metabolic, anabolic, and recovery-enhancing effects.
Unlike growth hormone itself, Hexarelin works with the body’s own feedback mechanisms, making it a safer and more physiological alternative for GH elevation.
How It Works (Mechanism of Action)
Hexarelin binds to the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) in the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, triggering the release of endogenous growth hormone. It has no significant effect on appetite compared to ghrelin or GHRP-6.
Growth Hormone Release
-
Stimulates pulsatile GH secretion, mimicking the body’s natural rhythm.
-
Promotes IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor-1) production in the liver, amplifying anabolic effects.
Anabolic & Recovery Support
-
Enhances muscle growth, strength, and tissue repair by increasing protein synthesis.
-
Accelerates wound healing, collagen synthesis, and connective tissue regeneration.
Fat Metabolism
-
Increases lipolysis (fat breakdown) and improves body composition.
-
Encourages the use of fat as an energy source.
Cardioprotective Effects
-
Research shows potential protective effects on the heart, including enhanced cardiac cell survival and repair following ischemic injury.
-
May support ventricular function and reduce fibrosis.
Desensitization Profile
-
Hexarelin has a higher risk of receptor desensitization with continuous use compared to other GHRPs. Best used in cycled protocols.
Potential Benefits & Use Cases
-
Muscle Growth & Strength Gains: Supports lean muscle development and strength through increased GH/IGF-1 levels.
-
Accelerated Recovery: Speeds up healing from injuries, workouts, and surgical procedures.
-
Fat Loss & Improved Body Composition: Mobilizes fat stores and promotes lean mass retention.
-
Anti-Aging Support: Reverses age-related decline in GH, promoting vitality and recovery.
-
Cardiac Repair & Health: May offer cardioprotective benefits, particularly in compromised cardiac function or post-injury.
Typical Dosage & Administration
-
Administration: Subcutaneous injection, often taken once or twice daily.
-
Dosage:
-
100–200 mcg per injection, 1–2 times per day (morning and/or pre-bedtime).
-
Typical cycle length: 4–8 weeks, followed by a 2–4 week break to minimize desensitization.
-
Note: Best used on an empty stomach, avoiding food intake 30–60 minutes before and after dosing for maximum GH release.
Possible Side Effects
Hexarelin is well-tolerated, but potential side effects include:
-
Temporary GH-related symptoms: Water retention, joint pain, numbness, or tingling (especially at higher doses).
-
Increased cortisol or prolactin levels: Usually mild and dose-dependent.
-
Injection site irritation: Minor redness or swelling.
-
Desensitization: Loss of effectiveness with prolonged continuous use.
Other Relevant Details
-
Stronger GH pulse than GHRP-6 or GHRP-2, but lower appetite stimulation—ideal for lean bulk or cutting.
-
Often stacked with CJC-1295 without DAC to synergize growth hormone release (GHRH + GHRP combo).
-
Useful in performance enhancement, rehabilitation, and anti-aging protocols.
